Pralognan-la-Vanoise: Bois de la Glière panoramic interpretive trails

Bois de la Glière panoramic interpretive trails

Interpretive trails:

At the gateway to Vanoise National Park, off the beaten path, follow your senses on this fun and amusing walk that your kids will thoroughly enjoy.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step :

1. From the hamlet of Fontanettes, follow the forest road which passes in front of the playground.
2. After the barrier, continue for about 350 m. The start of the trail is indicated by a large sign on the left, so just follow “the guides”: a hand for the sensory trail, a little elf for the thematic trail. No particular difficulty, the paths are first in the forest in the wood of Glière then open in the circus of Arcelin, at the gates of the Vanoise National Park.
3. We assure you of a contrast of “atmospheres”. The first, thematic itinerary offers reading tables; the second, which will delight your children, is sensory for a tactile, sensual, visual, fragrant approach… an original vision of our environment.
4. In the Cirque de l’Arcelin you are in a natural amphitheater which offers a striking view of the large vertical walls of Moriond, the Aiguilles de l’Arcelin and the Grand Marchet.
5. From the sensory path, you can climb the 78 steps to the Belvédère du Rocher de l’Arcelin, a remarkable viewpoint over the canopy of the Bois de la Glière.
6. For the descent join the Arcelin forest road and return to the hamlet of Fontanettes via the Creuset bridge.
In winter, in this sector, the ESF supervises snowshoe outings.

Descent variants:
6. In the circus, take the path on your right and go down the Toboggan run.
In winter it is an off-piste ski route through the conifers, very popular with young people from Pralogna.
7. In the circus, take the path on your left to head towards the Dou de l’Écu “artificial snow” factory, then join the car park via the GR 55.
