Fête de l’Alpe et des Guides – Mountain and Guide Festival

It’s no coincidence that Pralognan is the venue for the Fête de l’Alpe et des Guides! Did you know that part of the history of mountaineering was written here? That the 3rd largest Compagnie des Guides in France is based here?

Every summer, the 35 guides and mountain leaders take keen hikers, budding mountaineers and experienced climbers to discover the massif and the giants of the Vanoise, whose highest peak reaches an altitude of almost 4,000 metres! Every summer, locals and tourists alike pay tribute to these guardian angels of our mountain landscape during a weekend dedicated to the passion and dedication of mountain guides. On the programme: sound and light show retracing the history of mountaineering and the ascent of Grande Casse, blessing of ropes and ice axes, parade, award of medals…

PROGRAM

– SATURDAY AUGUST 10
5 p.m.: sale of lanterns on the Place de la Mairie
9 p.m.: lantern parade in the village
9 p.m.: Ski Club refreshment bar in the Bouquetin car park (until 1 a.m.)
9:30 p.m.: sound and light show in the Bouquetin parking lot
10:30 p.m.: lantern parade in the village
10:30 p.m.: DJ atmosphere in the Bouquetin parking lot (until 1 a.m.)

– SUNDAY AUGUST 11
From 9 a.m.: craft market in the village
10 a.m.: open-air mass in the Bouquetin car park
11 a.m.: parade in the village
12 p.m.: official announcements on the Town Hall Square
Throughout the day: concerts in the streets of Pralognan (3 spots: Place de la Mairie, Place du Barioz, Calvaire)
3 p.m.: first aid demonstration by the PGHM of Savoie (Parking du Bouquetin)
3 p.m.: Tyrolean for the benefit of the Relief Fund of the Office of Guides and Accompanists, free donation. (Ibex car park)
