A ski resort in the Alps, a pioneer of winter sports in Savoie
A winter mountain destination since the 1900s, Pralognan-la-Vanoise is one of the pioneering ski resorts for winter sports in Savoie and the Northern Alps. In 1910, the Pralognan Ski Club already had nearly 70 members and spring skiing was growing steadily. Pralognan’s ski guides welcomed a new clientele, who found lodging and meals in the village. Then, in 1937, the first ski lifts were installed (at Barioz and Le Plan) and, in 1953, the opening of the cable car linking the new ski resort to Mont-Bochor caused a stir . At the time, it was hailed as the fastest device in the world!
The creation of the Vanoise National Park in 1963 , on the edge of the Pralognan slopes, limited the expansion of the ski area. This reasoned development allowed the small family ski resort in the Alps to retain its unique and authentic character in the Tarentaise Valley.
Today, Pralognan is a ski resort that lives in synergy with the surrounding nature, offering an infinite playground for mountain lovers. Ski touring, walking & snowshoeing, other winter activities… With or without skis, there are many possibilities to explore the mountain environment at all ages and at all levels, while respecting the fauna and flora, the glaciers and peaks, the majestic Vanoise.
